The breast lift, technically called a mastopexy, results in a firm, attractive, yet natural looking breast. Dr. Bogdan performs the following 3 main types of breast lift operations:

• Peri-areolar incision (Doughnut Mastopexy) is indicated for women who have a very small amount of breast drooping, or to correct nipple asymmetry. It is performed by making 2 concentric circles around the areola (the inner one being round, the outer one round or elliptical depending on what kind of effect is desired) and removing the intervening skin. It results in a scar that it hidden between the pigmented areola skin and the breast skin. This type of mastopexy does not create a significant lift, and is mostly used to fine tune breast symmetry or reduce areola size.
• Lollipop incision is used for correcting a moderate amount of breast droop. In addition to the scar around the areola, this operation results in a linear scar that runs from the areola down to the fold below the breast. With this additional incision, excess lower pole breast skin can be removed, which tightens the skin envelope and lifts the breast.
• Anchor incision mastopexy is the most extensive breast lift operation and can address a large amount of excess skin and breast drooping. In addition to the scars from a lollipop lift, this operation adds an incision that follows the fold under the breast. This extra incision allows for removal of excess skin in a horizontal direction, creating an additional lift to the breast. As all mature breasts have some component of drooping (even after a lift), this scar is well hidden due to its location.
